Changing Email Settings (Domain Administration)

These are the instructions for administrating email accounts for a domain .  If you need to change individual email account settings, use these instructions instead.

Using our control panel, you can easily update settings for your domain such as adding users, forwards, autoresponders, or mailing lists.  You can also change passwords and quotas for individual users as well as making other changes.  For most customers, our support team handles these tasks, but some like a more “hands on approach” and these instructions will help guide those users.

To get started, go to our home page at https://www.netsolinc.com.  On the right side, you will find the “Online Email Center”. Click on the link that says “Modify Email Account Settings” or you can go directly to https://mail.internetpro.net/cgi-bin/qmailadmin.   Once you have gone to the control panel address, you will find a screen with login information.   The User Account field will already be filled in with “postmaster”.  The postmaster account is the master account for the domain and logging in with that user allows you to modify any settings available for that domain.  You will fill in your domain int he Domain Name field (for example, if your email addresses are @internetpro.net, you would put internetpro.net in that blank).  Next, fill in your postmaster password.   By default we do not assign a postmaster password to customers.  If you do not have this, and wish to do your own email administration, please contact us a support@internetpro.net or 877-886-6868 to have a password set.

Once you log in, you will be presented with a menu of available settings. The Email Accounts link will allow you to create and modify email accounts for your domain.  Forwards are email addresses which are delivered to another email address (for example, you may have a billing@youdomain.com that you want forwarded to a particular person).  Mail Robots are autoresponders which will respond with a predetermined email message (for example, directions@yourdomain.com could respond with an email giving driving directions to your location).  Mailing Lists are created to allow you to send mass emails to subscribers and to manage the subscribers on your list.

If you have any trouble accessing these settings or making changes, please contact our support team at support@internetpro.net or 877-886-6868.

Changing Email Settings (Single Account)

These instructions have been deprecated as of 12/9/2014.    We will be replacing this page soon with updated instructions.

These are the instructions for changing settings on a single email account.  If you need to administrate the settings for an entire domain name, use these instructions instead.

Using our control panel, you can easily update settings for your email account such as changing your password, forwarding your email to someone else, or setting up an autoresponder (vacation message) for when you are away from email.

You will want to remove “postmaster” in the User Account field and replace it with the first part of your email address (the part before the @).  For example, if your email address was support@internetpro.net, you would replace postmaster with support.  In the domain name field, put the second part of your email address (the part after the @).  In our example of support@internetpro.net, this would be internetpro.net. Use your current password for the password field.

Once you log in, you will be presented with a screen which will allow you to change various settings.  After you have input a new setting, just click the “Modify User” button at the bottom to save the changes.  Note: The “Spam Detection” check mark is NOT needed unless you are doing server-side spam filtering.  Server-side filtering is not typically needed unless your IMAP program does not support filtering (like Outlook Express) or you need to block emails coming to a mobile device.

If you have any trouble accessing these settings or making changes, please contact our support team at support@internetpro.net or 877-886-6868.

Memcached Servers Added

November 2, 2012 – We have brought online three new memcached servers to enhance speed of web applications which support memcached.  Our preferred development platform, WordPress, is one of these applications.  Memcached is a product which was designed to increase performance on sites with heavy traffic.  It allows the server to “remember” or “cache” common pages and database queries thereby speeding up the page loads and reducing load on the server.  If you have an application which can take advantage of memcache (many content management systems can as well as other web applications), please contact our support team at support@internetpro.net for instructions on accessing our memcached servers.  If you know how to configure memcache, use these hosts:

memcache1.internetpro.net
memcache2.internetpro.net
memcache3.internetpro.net

Nationwide Internet Issues

October 30, 2012 – The internet as a whole (at least in North America) seems to be experiencing a lot of problems today.  Many of these issues can be traced to Hurricane Sandy.  As data lines go down in the north east, traffic is being actively rerouted.  This is causing “traffic jams” on the internet even in places that are geographically distant from the storm impact.  Locally, we are seeing Comcast routing issues which are affecting parts of our phone system.  We have seen lost connectivity to servers we manage in an Austin, TX datacenter.  Here are a few links which show some of the current problems on the internet:

http://www.internettrafficreport.com/namerica.htm
http://www.internetweathermap.com/map

This is an ongoing problem and reliable information is hard to come by at the moment.  We will be posting updates as we get them.

NetSol Cloud Update

We are pleased to announce the release of a new version of NetSol Cloud.  This new version includes many stability and bug fixes as well as feature enhancements.  A list of new features can be found below.  Some features are only available to corporate or dedicated server accounts.

  • Mounting of external storage: Administrators can now mount external cloud storage (Dropbox, Google, Swift, S3, etc.) and decide whether it is to be accessible by the entire user population, a group, or a specific user. Users can now do the same, providing the first ever file sync and share capability across multiple cloud services, using NetSol Cloud as the single point of access.
  • Faster syncing: Using a unique ID and algorithm, the sync mechanism now compares file and folder IDs to identify which to sync, rather than time stamps. This removes the need to have times in sync on desktops and servers, and reduces the overhead on both the client and server.
  • Sub-administrators for groups: Administrators can now assign one or more admins to groups on the NetSol Cloud system, enabling ad-hoc group access and facilitating sharing amongst employees, and between employees, contractors, suppliers and partners.
  • File versioning: Uploading a file with the same file name in the web interface will now generate a new version of the file and display the uploaded file as the newest version, further improving collaboration capabilities on non-connected NetSol Cloud devices.
  • Enhanced Sharing: Users can now provide more granular permissions when they share a file, including edit, delete and share rights, can set expiration dates for shared files, and can also set a password on the URL to access a shared link, and much more, all within a significantly faster and more scalable sharing engine.
  • Calendar improvements: Importing and exporting of calendar events got a complete rewrite to fix compatibility issues, work with repeating events, and is now much faster.
  • Syncing of shared address books: Shared address books can now be synced to other devices.
  • Drag and drop contacts between address books: When several address books are used, contacts can be moved or copied easily.

We recommend that all users of the NetSol Cloud who are using the desktop sync software upgrade to the newest version which can be found on the desktop sync client page to take advantage of the new synching algorithms.

If you have any questions or concerns about the new version, please contact us at support@internetpro.net or call 256-547-6817.

New Webmail Interface

We are happy to announce the release of a new, more modern webmail interface.  The old interface is still available at the same address (https://mail.internetpro.net/webmail) and there will be a link to it below the “Online Email Center” on the right side of our home page.  The old “alternate web interface” has been updated, moved to a new, faster server, and we have changed it to our primary interface.  In the coming days, if you fill in the form on the “Online Email Center” on our home page, you will be taken to the new interface.  If you would like to go directly to the new interface, the address is https://webmail.internetpro.net.

The new interface has MANY new features including:

  • Drag-&-drop message management
  • Find-as-you-type address book
  • Searching messages and contacts
  • Threaded message listing
  • Full featured address book

The new address book is VERY full featured.  However, it will not automatically be moved from the old web interface.  If you have lots of contacts and would like us to move them over for you so you can take advantage of the new interface, just contact us at support@internetpro.net or call 256-547-6817 and we’ll be happy to assist you.

GoDaddy Down

Sept. 10, 2012 – 2:00pm  – GoDaddy is experiencing a DOS attack from the activist group Anonymous.  This relates to GoDaddy’s earlier support of SOPA, for which we stopped using their registrar services (article here).   Although some of our customer domains are still registered through GoDaddy (if they have not been renewed yet), this outage will NOT affect those customers.  We operate our own DNS, Email, and Hosting services independently and not subcontracted through GoDaddy.  All of our services are in normal working order.   However, since the news of this attack is making headlines, we wanted to make a statement to eliminate any concerns our customers might have.  Here is an article giving some more details of this attack on GoDaddy: http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/10/godaddy-outage-takes-down-millions-of-sites/

Update:  – It is just a member of Anonymous claiming responsibility – not the entire group.

Update – 5:00pm – Looks like the issue has been resolved for GoDaddy.  It remains to be seen if they are going to be the target of future attacks like this.

Update – 9/11/2012 – GoDaddy is claiming that the issue was not caused by hacker(s).   They say that the issue was an internal network problem which corrupted routing tables.

Email Blocked

August 21, 2012 – Comcast is blocking email coming from our servers at the present time. We have contacted them about the issue, and expect to be unblocked soon. Customers who send to an address with Comcast will receive a bounce message. That email will need to be resent if you receive a bounce. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Update – 5:07pm – The block has been removed.

Update – 7:00am August 22, 2012 – Comcast has put us on the blacklist again. We are working to get this resolved permanently.

Update – 8:05am – The block has been removed again. Their systems are very automated, so we are having trouble getting confirmation this is a permanent removal.

Update – 8:30am – We believe we found the issue causing the trouble. A user had a password compromised and was their account was being used to send out some spam. Although the volume of spam was fairly low, Comcast was triggering a block. We have changed the password and notified the user. We believe the password was compromised through a “phishing” email that asked the user to “confirm” their username and password.   Please remember that Network Solutions, Inc. will never send you an email asking you for usernames or passwords!  Any email asking for that is a scam.

Emergency Maintenance

August 3, 2012 –  We are going to have to perform some emergency maintenance on one of our web servers tonight during the maintenance window.  The work to be performed is a hard drive replacement. Because of the nature of the failure, the server will have to be taken offline for a short period of time (expected less than 30 minutes).  Some customer web sites will be unavailable during this time.  We will post status updates here as the work is performed.

Update –  The maintenance has been completed without incident and all sites are functional.  If you have any issues, please contact us at support@internetpro.net or call 256-547-6817.
